New York New Covid Cases and Deaths per Month

Image
New York is another state that was hit very hard in the beginning, then had a four month stretch with barely any cases. Then cases doubled in October and kept going up like a rocket through the end of January. February and March have dropped down but still ten times higher than their June to September average. Fortunately they have the same situation with their mortality rate as New Jersey. The first two months they had 370,000 cases and 24,000 deaths, for a mortality rate of 6.5%. The last five months they've had 1.4 million cases and 14,700 deaths, for a mortality rate of 1.1%.

Did a new chart showing cases and deaths across the whole country. Cases aren't really coming down that much and spiked up a bit a couple weeks ago, but deaths have plummeted, and are now less than a quarter of the levels at the beginning of February. This is very good. Maybe they are using the monoclonal antibodies more.

Michigan New Covid Cases and Deaths per Month

Image
It's getting towards the end of the month so I included this month's data (to date), along with the rest of the months, because Michigan has had a huge spike this month, and the graph would not tell the correct story if it stopped at the end of March. As you can see, they've had a huge spike in cases this month. Fortunately the deaths haven't followed along nearly as much as they did in the last spike, so that's a good thing.

Mass Covid 19 update - 4/23

Cases were about the same as yesterday, at 1,452, but they did 10,000 fewer tests, 92,155 to be exact, so the Positive Test Rate ticked up to 1.6%, which is still pretty good. Mass Covid Vaccination Update

Mass Covid Vaccination Update We are now at 3,216,855 first doses administered. And we have also administered 1,976,054 second doses, plus 204,143 people got the J&J one-shot, so that makes for 2,180,197 people who are fully vaccinated. There are four and a half million adults in Massachusetts, so that puts us at 49% fully vaccinated. At our current rate of vaccination, which is about 93,000 a day, we should be at 70% herd immunity in TEN DAYS. That's not too far from now.

Did a chart showing the deaths per week in Massachusetts going back to the beginning of September. We were pretty stable at about a hundred deaths a week until the beginning of November, then things started spiking in a big way. We peaked at 564 in a single week in the end of December. Fortunately it started coming back down after that and the last two weeks it's been under 70, which is lower than any other weeks going back to September.

Maryland New Covid Cases and Deaths per Month

Image
Maryland had it kind of rough in the beginning, with 2,600 deaths by the end of May. It calmed down after that, at least until November. At that point cases more than doubled, and wound up quadrupling by December. January was also wicked high but things turned around in February, and it dropped back to pre-surge levels.

Massachusetts Vaccination Update

Massachusetts is doing really well with their vaccination push. We have just over two million people now fully vaccinated. That's 44.4% of the 4,587,935 adults in the state. The national rate is only 32.5%, so we're way ahead of the average. Mass has been giving out about 50,000 shots a day. At current rates, we'll be at 70% coverage, aka "herd immunity", in 24 days. That's not very far away. A new dawn is breaking.

Massachusetts New Covid Cases per Week

Image
I did a new chart to show the progress we've been making in Massachusetts with regards to Covid case counts. We were doing pretty well there for a while but then we had a spike. Seems like it's coming back down and I hope that continues.
