Image
Re-did the Massachusetts New Covid Deaths per Week chart because this week we did extremely well, with only 12 deaths. That's down from 232 the last week of March.

Mass Covid 19 update - 6/30

Image
Mass Covid 19 update. Reasonably good news today. Cases ticked up, to 93, but they did a lot more tests, as in 31,484 so the Positive Test Rate stayed at 0.3%. Deaths stayed low too, at one. This is the sixth day in a row where we've had only one or two deaths, and four of those days it was one, so that's very good. Total Confirmed Cases: 659,057 Total Confirmed Deaths: 17,640 Some backsliding in the hospitals today. Six more people went into the hospital and two more went into the ICU. Not a disaster, but not the way we want to go.

Mass Covid 19 update. Reasonably good news today, although nine more people went into the hospital. This is the fifth day in a row with only one or two deaths, hopefully this becomes a trend. Total Confirmed Cases: 658,964 Total Confirmed Deaths: 17,639 Nine more people went into the hospital today, ouch. There was no change in the ICU. That brings those numbers to 104 and 31, respectively.

Mass Covid 19 update. Pretty good news today. Cases stayed low, at 41, but it being a Sunday they only did 13,665 tests, so the Positive Test Rate ticked back up to 0.3%. Deaths stayed low, at two. That's four days in a row with only one or two deaths. Total Confirmed Cases: 658,901 Total Confirmed Deaths: 17,638 One person got out of the hospital but five more went into the ICU. This ain't over just yet, although thankfully the ICU count is only 31, which is pretty much the lowest it's ever been, give or take five. Those numbers are now 95 and 31.

Massachusetts New Covid Deaths per Week

Updated my Massachusetts New Covid Deaths per Week chart because we are making progress. We were over 60 deaths a week five and six weeks ago, then we were at about 45 for a couple of weeks, then we had a couple of weeks around 30, and this past week was the first time we were under 20. Good progress.

Mass Covid 19 update - 6/27

Mass Covid 19 update. Excellent news today. Cases came in really low, at 31, and they did 21,304 tests, so the Positive Test Rate dropped down to 0.1%. That's great. Deaths stayed very low, at one. Massachusetts Vaccination Update.

Image
Massachusetts Vaccination Update. So far we've got 4,392,548 people with at least one shot, and a total of 4,154,263 fully vaccinated. That works out to be 63.7% of everybody got at least one shot, and 60.2% of everybody is fully vaccinated. If you judge by all people 12 and over, then 74.9% of everybody that's eligible to be vaccinated got at least one shot and 70.9% of that cohort is fully vaccinated. The effects of this effort have been demonstrable. Eight weeks ago we had about 8,000 cases that week. Last week we had 432 cases, this week we had 384 cases. That's a 20x reduction in cases in just eight weeks.

So being at 100 is a great accomplishment. Look forward to it getting lower.

Massachusetts New Covid Cases per Week

Image
Given that we just had a whole week of under 100 cases per day, I figured it was a good time to re-do the Massachusetts New Covid Cases per Week chart to see how things looked. Looking pretty good. We only have 2.8% of the caseload we had back in the beginning of April. That's a 97% reduction over the past ten weeks. Nice going Massachusetts.

Mass Covid 19 update - 6/19

California New Covid Cases and Deaths per Month

Image
California had a huge spike of cases in December and January, then it dropped down significantly. Given their status as #18 in the most vaccinated rankings, they've enjoyed a steady drop in cases over the past three months.

Arkansas New Covid Cases and Deaths per Month

Image
Arkansas had a huge spike in cases in December and January, then it dropped off dramatically after that. The last two months haven't seen a decline though, and that may be because they are 49th out of 51 states plus DC in vaccination percentage.

Massachusetts New Covid Tests per Week

Image
I've heard some scuttlebutt about Mass reducing Covid testing, so I did a graph to illustrate the levels of testing over the past couple months. Back in the middle of April, we did 613,945 tests, and discovered 13,648 cases, for a Positive Test Rate of 2.2%. This past week we did 200,085 tests, and discovered 454 cases, for a Positive Test Rate of 0.2%. So we're testing less, but the percentage of people who have the virus is shrinking down to almost nothing. It's literally a tenth of what it was two months ago.

Mass Covid 19 update - 6/18

Image
Mass Covid 19 update. More good news today. Cases stayed low, at 71, and they did 39,962 tests so the Positive Test Rate stayed at 0.2%. Deaths stayed low too, at three. Hopefully soon we'll have less than 100 people in the hospital. That will be an accomplishment.
