Mass Covid 19 update - 2/28

Image
Mass Covid 19 update. Starting to make some real progress. Cases came in at 1,632, which when you divide that by three days, means only 544 cases per day, and you got to go back to July 22nd to get lower than that. They did 97,477 tests, so the Positive Test Rate stayed at a nice and low 1.7%. Deaths were low too, coming in at 31 for the weekend, or about ten a day. We haven't had ten a day since the beginning of November. Total Confirmed Cases: 1,534,671 Total Confirmed Deaths: 22,696 Things keep getting better in the hospitals. Thirty eight more people got out of the hospital this weekend, and ten got out of the ICU. That brings those numbers down to 445 and 83, respectively.

Mass Covid 19 update. Pretty good news today, especially since deaths are relatively low. Cases came in at 1,329, which is less than yesterday even though they did more tests, 79,786 to be exact. That drove the Positive Test Rate all the way down to 1.7%. Deaths were way more moderate, at twenty nine. Total Confirmed Cases: 1,533,039 Total Confirmed Deaths: 22,665 Things just keep getting better in the hospitals. Twenty nine more people got out of the hospital today, and four got out of the ICU. That brings those numbers down to 483 and 93, respectively. This is the first time we've had fewer than 500 people in the hospital since August 20th. I am quite pleased.

Case Analysis per 100,000 Cases

Did an interesting chart that shows the progress of the Covid situation over time. I broke it down into chunks of 100,000 cases. The cases per death and mortality rate was much higher in the beginning, then it got much better, but has recently regressed back to earlier badness. When we were doing our best, the mortality rate was down to 0.2%, which is very good. Recently that's ticked up to where it's now back up to 1.3%. In the beginning it was at 7.3%. At one point were were only having one death every 487 cases. That's gone back to one death for every 77 cases, which is not good. Anyway, I hope the chart is enjoyable and useful.

Mass Covid 19 update. Positive progress continues. Cases came in at 1,556, which is more than yesterday but they did 20,000 more tests, 76,664 to be exact. Total Confirmed Cases: 1,531,710 Total Confirmed Deaths: 22,636 Things continue to improve in the hospitals. Twenty five people got out of the hospital today and eight got out of the ICU. That brings those numbers down to 512 and 97, respectively. This is the first time that there have been fewer than 100 people in the ICU since August 19th. We had 484 people in the ICU on January 13th.

Mass Covid 19 update. Except for an extremely high number of deaths, the numbers are really good today. Cases came in at 938, which is the lowest it's been since August 4th. This is the first time under a thousand since then. They did 57,159 tests, which dropped the Positive Test Rate all the way down to 1.6%. Deaths though, were extremely high, at one hundred and thirty three. Ouch. Total Confirmed Cases: 1,530,154 Total Confirmed Deaths: 22,588 More good news in the hospitals. Thirty six more people got out of the hospital today and eight got out of the ICU. That brings those numbers down to 537 and 105, respectively. We were over three thousand people in the hospital just a month and a half ago.

Mass Covid 19 update. Well after a long slog of doing these reports where it was pretty much always a bummer, things have definitely started turning around, which pleases me to no end. Cases came in at 4,118, which when you divide it by four days comes out to only 1,029 cases per day, which is way better than it's been over the past couple months. You got to go all the way back to August 4th to get a case number lower than that. Major improvement. They did 185,410 tests, which kept the Positive Test Rate nice and low at 2.2%. Deaths came in at 37, which is fewer than ten per day. You again have to go back to August to find numbers, other than single days, where the numbers were that low. Total Confirmed Cases: 1,529,216 Total Confirmed Deaths: 22,455 Very good news in the hospitals. One hundred and forty six people got out of the hospital over the weekend, and twenty six got out of the ICU. That brings those numbers down to 573 and 113, respectively. Again you have to go back to Au

Massachusetts New Covid Deaths per Week

I re-did my Massachusetts New Covid Deaths per Week chart and it shows a similar pattern to the cases chart, with a decline over the last five weeks. Things were getting ugly there for a while.

Mass Covid 19 update - 2/18

Mass Covid 19 update. Despite deaths remaining persistently high, most other things are improving steadily. Cases came in at 1,983, which makes it six out of the last seven days they've been below 2,000. They did 89,083 tests, so the Positive Test Rate dropped down to 2.2%. Deaths ticked up a bit, to forty seven. The past three days they've averaged 43, and the twenty five days before that they averaged 59, so at least that's some improvement. Total Confirmed Cases: 1,525,098 Total Confirmed Deaths: 22,418 Things still improving in the hospitals. Fifty seven people got out of the hospital today, and thirteen got out of the ICU. That brings those numbers down to 719 and 139, respectively. The situation hasn't been this good since November 22nd.

Massachusetts New Covid Cases per Week

Image
Did an update on my Massachusetts New Covid Cases per Week chart to show just how significant a dropoff we've experienced over the past five weeks. We went from sky high levels of cases to now we are below where we were at the beginning of December. May these trends continue. Woo hoo.

Mass Covid 19 update - 2/17

Mass Covid 19 update. Moderately good news today. Cases ticked up, to 2,326, but they did a bunch more tests, 93,738 to be exact, so the Positive Test Rate ticked up to 2.5%. Mass Covid 19 update. Continuing the trends seen over the weekend. Cases came in at 1,653, which is slightly more than yesterday, but they did more than twice as many tests, 77,028 to be exact, so the Positive Test Rate dropped all the way down to 2.1%, which is the lowest it's been since November 12th. Deaths were relatively moderate, at forty six. Total Confirmed Cases: 1,520,789 Total Confirmed Deaths: 22,334 Things continue to improve in the hospitals. Mass Covid 19 update. Lots of deaths today, but otherwise things are not to crazy. Cases came in at 1,459, which is the lowest one day number we've had in a long while. They hardly did any tests though, 37,062 to be exact, so the Positive Test Rate spiked up to 3.9%. Deaths were very high, at ninety. Ouch. Total Confirmed Cases: 1,519,136 Total Confirmed Deaths: 22,288 Hospitalizations are continuing to drop dramatically. One hundred and forty two people got out of the hospital today, and eighteen got out of the ICU. That brings those numbers down to 882 and 168, respectively. Mass Covid 19 update. Pretty good news over the weekend. Cases came in at 3,863, which is only 1,288 per day, which is a nice low number compared to recent times. You got to go back to the beginning of November to get a number that low. They did 160,138 tests, which dropped the Positive Test Rate all the way down to 2.4%, which again you have to go back to the beginning of November to match. Deaths were relatively moderate, with sixty six over the weekend, averaging 22 per day. Total Confirmed Cases: 1,517,677 Total Confirmed Deaths: 22,198 More good news out of the hospitals. Thirty eight more people got out of the hospital over the weekend and seven got out of the ICU. That brings those numbers down to 1,024 and 186, respectively.

Mass Covid 19 update - 2/11

Mass Covid 19 update. Not too bad a day, all things considered. Cases continued their slow decline, coming in at 2,499, and they did 81,787 tests, so the Positive Test Rate remained unchanged at 3.1%. Deaths were slightly more moderate, at fifty three. Total Confirmed Cases: 1,513,814 Total Confirmed Deaths: 22,132 Things just keep getting better in the hospitals, which is excellent. Ninety nine people got out of the hospital today and twenty got out of the ICU. That brings those numbers down to 1,062 and 193, respectively. We haven't had fewer than 200 people in the ICU since late November.

Mass Covid 19 update - 2/10

Image
Mass Covid 19 update. Cases came in at 2,611, and they did a few less tests than yesterday, 83,967 to be exact, so the Positive Test Rate ticked up to 3.1%. Deaths stayed about the same as yesterday, at sixty one. Total Confirmed Cases: 1,511,315 Total Confirmed Deaths: 22,079 Things are still getting better in the hospitals. Seventy three more people got out of the hospital today, but three went into the ICU. That brings those numbers to 1,161 and 213, respectively.

Mass Covid 19 update - 2/9

Image
Mass Covid 19 update. More good news, especially since deaths are half of what they were yesterday. Cases came in at 2,794, which is more than yesterday, but they did more that twice as many tests today, 97,220 today vs 45k yesterday, and the number of cases didn't even come close to doubling, driving the Positive Test Rate down to 2.9%. Deaths were also lower than yesterday too, although still too high at sixty nine. Total Confirmed Cases: 1,508,704 Total Confirmed Deaths: 22,018 We crossed the 22,000 deaths threshold today, sadly. The hospitalization situation continues to improve. Ninety one more people got out of the hospital today, and seven more got out of the ICU. That brings those numbers down to 1,234 and 210, respectively.

Mass Covid 19 update - 2/8

Image
Mass Covid 19 update. Generally very good news except for a shockingly high number of deaths. Cases came in at 1,792, which is a continuation of the ongoing decline in cases numbers. One reason the number is so low though is they did a very low number of tests, 45,056 to be exact. The Positive Test Rate stayed almost the same though at 4.0%. Deaths were very high, at one hundred and twenty eight. Ouch. Total Confirmed Cases: 1,505,910 Total Confirmed Deaths: 21,949 The good news in the hospitals continues to come in. One hundred and fifty seven people got out of the hospital today, and thirty six got out of the ICU. That brings those numbers down to 1,325 and 217, respectively.
