Alabama New Covid Cases and Deaths per Month

Image
Alabama had a big spike of cases in December and January, but things dropped off rapidly after that. This past month cases ticked up a little, but deaths are at an all time low.

United States New Covid Cases and Deaths per Week

I did a chart to show the progress we've been making across the country with our Covid situation over the past eight weeks. Cases have been declining steadily as the percentage of the populations that's fully vaccinated continues to grow. Deaths have more leveled off but are declining slightly. There is a lag effect with deaths so they don't drop as quickly as the cases do.

Massachusetts New Covid Cases per Week

Image
The graph of Massachusetts cases per week shows an interesting tale. We were way high at the beginning of the year, and then that started dropping dramatically, until it leveled off in the middle of February. In March cases started rising again, and then at the beginning of April the effects of vaccination started taking hold. You have to go back to September to see lower case levels than we've got now. As long as the trends depicted here continue we should be out of the woods pretty quick.

Mass Covid 19 update. Pretty good news today. Cases were almost exactly the same as yesterday, at 405, and they did almost the same number of tests, 49,584 to be exact, so the Positive Test Rate stayed right at 0.8%. Deaths dropped down too, to five. Total Confirmed Cases: 654,481 Total Confirmed Deaths: 654,481 Twenty two people got out of the hospital today. There was no change in the ICU. Massachusetts New Covid Cases per Week

Did a chart to show the last six weeks worth of cases and the steady decline that we've been experiencing. This is directly correlated to the increasing number of people in Massachusetts that have been vaccinated. We crossed the four million mark on first shots and 3.4 million people are fully vaccinated. 3.4 million is half the total population, kids included.

Mass Covid 19 update. More good news today, especially in the hospitals. Cases dropped down to 400, and they did 47,254 tests, so the Positive Test Rate came in at 0.8%. Over the last nine days this has averaged 0.9%, which is excellent. That's pretty much the lowest average rate we've had ever during this ordeal. Deaths ticked up slightly, to eleven. Total Confirmed Cases: 654,076 Total Confirmed Deaths: 17,463 Good day in the hospitals. Twenty four people got out of the hospital, and ten got out of the ICU. That brings those numbers down to 303 and 81, respectively.

I did a chart to show the progression of Covid deaths since the beginning of the pandemic. We had a huge surge in deaths in the beginning, but by July things were very low. That stayed on until December, when it spiked til February. The last six weeks have been the lowest since the start of the pandemic. In the last six weeks we had 420 deaths. The six weeks just before that we had 1,400 deaths.

Mass Covid 19 update. This is yesterday's report. The state was wicked late with the data and by the time it came out I had already gone to bed cause I'm working now, so I had to get up early. But I'm home from work now so I'm catching up. Cases stayed about the same, at 425, but they did a lot more tests, 60,201 to be exact, so the Positive Test Rate dropped all the way down to 0.7%. Deaths ticked up, sadly, to fourteen. Total Confirmed Cases: 653,138 Total Confirmed Deaths: 17,443 Six more people went in to the hospital, and three more went into the ICU. That brings those numbers up to 332 and 96, respectively.

Vaccination Rates by State

Image
I'm pleased with how well Massachusetts is doing with vaccinations compared to other states. We've got 47.7% of our population fully vaccinated at this point. Fifth highest in the country. Nice work MA. I did a chart to show the various vaccination rates across the many states plus DC and PR. The greens are doing well, with over 40% of their populations fully vaccinated. The reds aren't doing so well, all coming in at less than 34% vaccinated. Five states are below 30%.

Vaccination Update

Seven states have reached the Biden administration's goal of vaccinating at least 70% of adults with at least one dose by July 4. Those states are Connecticut, Hawaii, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey and Vermont. Except for Hawaii, they're all in New England except for New Jersey, and that's almost in New England. It's not July 4 yet, but all those above states have at least 70% of the population with at least one shot. Massachusetts has given out 3,991,753 first shots and 235,125 single shots so that's 4,226,878 people who have gotten at least one shot. That's 87% of the 4,849,033 adults (18+) in Mass. 3,290,072 are fully vaccinated, or about 68% of all adults. This is very good news.

Georgia New Covid Cases and Deaths per Month

Image
Like Florida, Georgia had a huge spike of cases in December and January. Things dropped down in February and unlike Florida it's kept declining. Almost as low now as it's ever been.

Florida New Covid Cases and Deaths per Month

Image
Florida had their big huge spike in December and January, and it's come down since then, but it's plateaued at a pretty high level. They've averaged about 175,000 cases each of the last three months, with no sign of it slowing down. By comparison Mass has had 27,000 cases in the last 30 days and 50,000 three months ago.

District of Colombia New Covid Cases and Deaths per Month

Image
The District of Colombia had their big spike of cases in December and January. Things have come back down since then but they're still not back to the levels they had between June and October. Still about double that. Deaths have fortunately been dropping though.

Massachusetts New Covid Cases per Week

Image
Did a chart to show the progress we've made with reducing our Covid caseload since the beginning of the year. The first week of January we had over 47,000 cases. This past week we had about 3,300. After a brief spike in April, we've had declining cases for six weeks straight now.

Mass Covid 19 update - 5/18

Image
Mass Covid 19 update. They never published a chart yesterday, but I was able to go into the archived data and add yesterday to today's graph. Cases stayed low, at 359, and they did 37,627 tests so the Positive Test Rate came in at 1.0%. Deaths dropped down, to six. Total Confirmed Cases: 652,713 Total Confirmed Deaths: 17,429 Ten more people got out of the hospital today, and three got out of the ICU. That brings those numbers down to 326 and 93, respectively.

Mass Covid 19 update - 5/16

Image
Mass Covid 19 update. More relatively good news today. Cases ticked down, to 494, but they only did 44,094 tests, so the Positive Test Rate ticked up to 1.1%. Deaths stayed low at five. Total Confirmed Cases: 652,073 Total Confirmed Deaths: 17,404 Fifteen more people got out of the hospital today, and three got out of the ICU. That brings those numbers down to 337 and 94, respectively.

United States New Covid Cases and Deaths per Week

Image
Did a chart to show the latest progression of the pandemic from a national perspective. Cases have been declining steadily and deaths dipped down this past week after being stalled for about four weeks. Much lower than the beginning of April though.

Massachusetts Vaccination Update

Image
Massachusetts is up to 3.9 million folks with one vax shot, and 3.2 million who are all set. That's 57% of the adult population fully vaccinated, and 70% with at least one shot. This is reflected in our declining case numbers. Two weeks ago we had 7,668 cases. Last week we had 5,553 cases. This week we had 3,809 cases. This is good progress.
